What makes PTTW different from other Parrot Head events? PTTW was created to be an event that could be hosted by any Parrot Head Club willing to be a partner. Partnering Clubs are the hosts of the event and the intent is to have an event that is owned by no one organization. Phins To The West is a not-for-profit corporation. The event was based on providing a quality week-end for a minimal price. The goal is to offer a High Value for the Dollar.

How does PTTW achieve the goals of a Best Value week-end event? PTTW has teamed with the AVI Resort and Casino and other sponsors to offer a week-end event that gives the attendees a full entertainment schedule, food, housing and reasonable drink prices. The cost of the event has been held to $225 per person, double occupancy for the past 3 years. For this sum the attendees receive 2 nights accommodations at the Resort, entertainment, memento package, laminate, 3 buffet meals, and Special Priced Coronas and Margarita's. In addition, as a registered attendee, you are eligible to participate in a FREE raffle, a Casino managed slot tournament ($500 payout) and more phun than you can ever imagine.

What are the amenities at the Resort? The Resort has a full 3 meal Buffet, 1 restaurant (Cafe) for light dining, a fine Italian restaurant and a fine steakhouse. In addition, there is a fun zone for children that operates throughout the day and evening, a championship 18-hole golf course, RV park, large sand beach, water toy rental, gambling, an on site multi-screen theater, 3 fast food facilities and an ice cream shop on the property. As for bars, the PHINS event will have those special priced drinks ONLY at our venue sites and if you wish to use the other bar facilities the Arrowweed Lounge has nightly entertainment.

Is this a family event? The Resort does offer a fun zone for children that operates throughout the day and evening. However, due to the nature of the Casino and the entertainment, Phins To The West is considered an Adult event with all evening events closed to anyone under the age of 21.

How big is the PTTW event? This is the 6th Annual event. In the past years the event has attracted well over 600 people. These attendees have represented over 30 different Clubs and 25 different states.

Is there a limit on the number of registrations being taken? The event has never put a limit on the registrations. With 455 rooms we have been able to comfortably accommodate all attendees.

What is the entertainment for the event? Each year the PTTW committee attempts to bring in top-level entertainers to provide a cross section of the Parrot Head nation. We have some regional favorites that have found a home at this event, but, the search for new and varied entertainment is always on-going. This year's entertainment is currently being negotiated, but, as in the past, we only bring in the best. The goal of PTTW has been to be large enough to have the funding necessary to bring this entertainment to Laughlin, but small enough to maintain the intimacy and closeness of our participants throughout the event.

What other activities are being held during the event? As with all Parrot Head events we will have a Silent Auction and other special Raffles to raise funds for elected charity organizations. These activities are held on Friday and Saturday during the event and we have had some very wonderful items up for bid. The main raffle is FREE and is part of your registration package. Tickets will be provided in your package at the event registration. Another event that has been planned again for 2009 is the Kayak Adventure down the Colorado River. Since many of our Parrothead phriends make a vacation of this event and arrive earlier in the week, we have created activities and additional entertainment opportunities to make their week more enjoyable. The Kayak trip will cost $30 per person.
